Pictures From My Cycle Tour Of East Yorkshire Featuring The Transpennine Trail

Welcome to this part of my site featuring pictures from my cycle tour of The East Riding Of Yorkshire based on country roads and The Transpennine Trail which is a Sustrans 215 mile coast to coast route which forms part of route 65.

Selby. Situated in North Yorkshire about 14 miles south of York and this scene is in the town centre looking torwards its magnifiant Abbey Church.

The peasent village of Hemingborough situated east of Selby on the A63 Hull road and claims to have one of the tallest church spires in Yorkshire.

The flat Marshland near Barrmby On The Marsh. This scene is looking north west towards Hemingborough and is The Transpennine Trail Cycle Route.

This is the point where the River Derwent meets the Ouse at Barmby and the Tidal Barrage built in the 1970s helps prevent floods.

The Tidal Barrage at Barnby and this scene is looking south west towards Drax Power Station situated in The Selby coal fields.

Howden. Pleasent little historic market town situated in The East Riding Of Yorkshire and this scene is looking towards its Minster Church.

The River Ouse near Blacktoft and this scene is looking south west into North Lincolnshire.

The Humber Bridge. It is England's longest span and opened in 1981 to link The East Riding with North Lincolnshire.

Hornsea. This is at the crossroads with the Sea Front at the start and finishing point of The Transpennine Trail.

The Information Board situated on Hornsea's sea front telling you brief details about This coast to coast Trail.

Hornsea. This is at the southern end of the seafront and was taken on the third day of this cycle tour during April 2008.

Hornsea Mere. One of Yorkshire's largest lakes and popular with bird watchers with a hive of bird activity.

Hornsea. This is the Milestone telling you the distance of towns and villages on the trail situated at Hornsea's former Railway Station premises.

Hornsea. This site is the old railway station and was a branch line to Kingston Upon Hull before its closure in 1964.

Beverley. Located about 10 miles north of Hull and is one of Yorkshire's most visited tourist towns. Taken on a detour off the Transpennine Trail.

Beverley. This is looking towards its stunning Minster Church and is one of the main tourist attractions of this beautiful market town.

Stamford Bridge. Situated about 10 miles north east of York. It now links part of National Cycle Network Route 66 to the East Coast and Wolds.

Stamford Bridge. This scene is looking from the old railway viaduct with grand views of the the River Derwent and Yorkshire Wolds in the distance.

Leavening. Situated on one of the highest points of the Yorkshire Wolds near Malton. This scene is part of the new Wolds Way cycle route.

The East Yorkshire seaside resort of Bridlington. Taken from my video footage Of The Way Roses Cycle Trail developed for The National Cycle Network.

Bridlington Old Town. This scene is looking into Kirkgate towards the priory church and was taken during my 2019 cycle tour.

The spectacular white chalked cliffs on The East Yorkshire Coast situated north of Bridlington near Sewerby
