Pictures From My Visits To The South West Of England

Welcome to this page on my site featuring pictures from my visits of The South West Of England. These pictures as it stands now were taken over the past 10 years while on holiday in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Please sit back and enjoy these pictures and I am now pleased to say that the main railway line that was damaged at Dawlish during the storms of winter 2014 is now back in working order and I hope to have many more visits to this beautiful part of the country. 

Swanage. Situated on the east Dorset Coast and with its nice clean sands it marks the resort a winner of South England in Bloom.

Swanage. This scene is looking over the entire bay of this grand Dorset seaside town with lovely views of the Purbeck hills.

The Great Globe. Situated on the East Dorset Coast about 2 miles south of Swanage and this scene was taken during the Autumn of 2007.

Weymouth. One of Dorset's most popular resorts and claims to be the sunniest place in Britain. King George III also loved holidays in Weymouth.

Weymouth. One of my best pictures taken of this seaside resort and this scene is on the beach with some fine views over the entire bay.

Weymouth. This scene is in its picturesque harbour and was taken during my Autumn 2007 visit.

Weymouth. This scene was taken at sunset and is looking across Overcombe beach situated at the eastside of this seaside resort towards Redcliff Point.

Chesil Beach. Situated on the Dorset Coast about 4 miles south of Weymouth. This scene was taken during my Autumn visit during 2007.

Isle Of Portland. This scene is at Portland Bill Lighthouse and taken during my first ever visit during Autumn 2007.

Easton. Situated in the middle of the Isle Of Portland and is Portland's main community and working village. The main industry is Portland Stone.

Abbotsbury. Situated in West Dorset and slightly inland from Dorset's heritage coast and enjoyed by many visitors.

Abbotsbury. This scene is looking into this picturesque Dorset village as you approach it on the South West Coast Footpath.

Abbotsbury. This is looking towards the Ridgeway Hills and the iron age Hillfort is one of Abbotsbury's attractive landmarks.

West Bay. One of West Dorset's most picturesque costal villages and this scene is looking towards East Cliff.

West Bay. This scene is looking towards the south west end of its picturesque seashore and was taken in November 2007.

Lyme Regis. Situated in West Dorset, Just on the Devon Border and is another of Dorset's most picturesque seaside towns with its clean beaches.

Lyme Regis. This is around the main seafront conservation area of this lovely seaside town and was taken during November 2007.

Beer. 1 of East Devon's most picturesque fishing villages and noted for its white freestone. Taken in November 2007.

Beer. Noted for its lovely white limestone cliffs and is my best picture of this lovely seafront view with its pebbled beach.

Beer. This scene is looking towards The Cross as you approach down into this village with contrasting views of its white washed cottages.

Sidmouth. One of East Devons' most picturesque seaside towns with its floral gardens. Taken during spring 2015

The approach down to Ladram Bay situated on the East Devon coast between Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth and was taken during spring 2015.

This scene is on the East Devon coast looking south east over Ladram Bay with grand views of Tortoiseshell Rocks and taken during spring 2015.

Budleigh Salterton. Not only is it my favourite of East Devon holiday resorts, It was the first place I visited in Devon during my childhood days.

Budleigh Salterton. Noted for its peace and tranquality and this scene is my best picture of its lovely pebbled beach and taken during Spring 2011.

Littleham Cove. I describe this section The Devon Cream of its beautiful Jurassic coast and this scene is looking east towards Budleigh Salterton.

Sandy Bay. Situated on the East Devon Coast about 2 miles east of Exmouth and noted for its lovely redstone cliffs and sands.

Sandy Bay. Another scene of this lovely stretch of the East Devon Coast and this is the beach at low tide.

Exmouth. This scene is at the east end of the seashore as you approach High Orcombe and is a popular angling and beachcombing area.

Exmouth. Devon's oldest seaside resort with its lovely red golden sands. This is at the west end of the seafront with some grand views over the Exe.

Exmouth. This 2004 scene was its lovely Strand Gardens situated in the town centre until modern development spoilt this lovely conservation area.

The Exmouth to Starcoss Ferry. This scene was taken on a stormy summer afternoon and is a vital link between East and South Devon.

Lympstone. Small charming costal village situated on the River Exe about 2 miles north west of Exmouth. Taken during the Autumn of 2008

Exeter. Devon's main Capital City and this scene is its beautiful Cathedral. Taken during the summer of 2005.

Exeter. This scene is in Cathedral Close Gardens and is the most busiest tourist areas of the City.

Dawlish. This scene is the coastpath that runs in parallel with the main railway. This section of the line is always subject to storm damage.

The Seaside resort of Dawlish. Situated on the main South Devon railway link to Cornwall. This scene is its lovely seafront gardens.

Teignmouth. Another of South Devon's lovely holiday resorts, Situated about 2 miles south of Dawlish on The English Riviera

This scene is on the southwest coast path looking north towards Teignmouth with lovely views of Labrador Bay and Exmouth in the distance.

Torquay. Located in South Devon and this scene is in its lovely seafront gardens located at the north side of the resort near the harbour.

Torquay. This scene is its picturesqe harbour and has that continental feeling of a seaside town due to being located on the English Reviera.

Torquay. This is an evening scene of continental style in Belgrave Road and noted for its victorian style guest houses and hotels.

Torquay. This scene is looking towards the main southern seafront beach and was taken during the Spring of 2004.

Cockington. Lovely thatched cottage village located at the southern end of Torquay's Suburbs and only 1.5 miles from the busy seafront.

Paignton. Situated about 2 miles south of Torquay and is a very popular entertainment seaside town and noted for its Penny Arcades.

Paignton. This is at the south end of the seafront as you approach its picturesque harbour and was taken during the Summer of 2004.

Paignton. This scene is in the habour and is my best view of Paignton and the entire coast of Torbay from this location

Paignton. This scene is looking into its picturesque harbour with a lovely view of its continental style cottages and enjoyed by many visitors.

Goodrington Sands. Located about 1 mile south of Paignton and is more of a kids playground with its waterslide and Go Karts. Taken in Summer of 2005.

Brixham. Situated at the southern end of the Torbay Coast and is one of the most picturesque fishing towns in South Devon.

Brixham. This is at Shoalstone Point situated between Brixham and Berry Head. They are some impressive views over the entire Torbay Coast and beyond.

Berry Head. This scene is at the most southern tip of the Torbay coast and the coastgaurd lookout can be seen for many miles on a very clear evening.

Dartmouth. This scene is on the Dartmouth Ferry looking over towards the impresive hillside village of Kingwear. Taken during the summer of 2005.

Dartmouth. Ancient historic maritime town situated on the deep water esturary of The River Dart before it meets the sea. Taken summer 2005

Totnes Picturesque Devon market town situated about 4 miles west of Paignton and is the gateway to The South Hams and Dartmoor.

Totnes. This scene is the picturesque river dart around the Marine area and popular with fishing and boat trips.

The South Devon Steam Railway. Popular with tourists and family days out. This scene is at Buckfastleigh station and taken during the summer of 2005.

Buckfastleigh Abbey. Magnificent Abbey Church that was completed between 1906 and 1937. A wonder of 20th - century England.

My first taste of walking in Dartmoor and this scene is looking towards Hickley Plain with its lovely green summer colours.

Dartmoor. This water scene is looking over Avon Dam near Ryder's Rocks and was taken during the Summer of 2006.

Brentmoor. Situated in the Dartmoor National Park. This scene is on the River Avon and taken during a walk over to Avon Dam Reservoir.

Plymouth. Maritme City and one of the south west's most important sea ports. This scene is looking towards the famous Hoe Lighthouse.

Plymouth. This scene is looking into Southside Street not far from the harbour and is Plymouth's oldest part of the town which attracts many tourists.

Gunnislake. Typical Cornish country village situated in South East Cornwall on the River Tamer and was taken during a day trip out during Autumn 2006.

Cawsand. Lovely costal village situated in South East Cornwall and easily reached by the Ferry from Plymouth Harbour.

Cawsand. Another splended scene of this Cornwall visit and this is looking into the twined village of Kingsand.

Looe. Situated in South East Cornwall and is my favouite of all Cornish seaside towns.

Looe. This scene was taken on a boat cruise to the nearby fishing village of Polperro and is one of my best pictures of Looe Bay.

Looe. This scene is looking onto the seafront with its nice clean beach with very impressive view of its clifftop cottages. Taken during Autumn 2008.

Polperro. Situated about 2 miles west of Looe and is 1 of Cornwall's most picturesque fishing villages with its whitestone cottages.

Polperro. This is another scene of this lovely Cornish fishing village and was taken during the Autumn of 2008.

Hayle Beach. Situated in St Ive's Bay, South West Cornwall. This scene is on a Spring clear evening with lovely blue colours of the Atlantic Ocean.

St Ives. South West Cornwall's most picturesque seaside town and this seafront scene was taken during the Spring of 2005.

Lands End. Situated in Southwest Cornwall and is England's most westerly point. Taken during the Spring of 2005.

Land End. This scene is looking over the mini suspension bridge with some nice clear views of the Atlantic Ocean.
