Pictures From My Cycle Tour Of East Yorkshire
Featuring The Trans Pennine Trial
Welcome this part of my site featuring pictures from my
successful cycle tour return to The East Riding Of Yorkshire, based on The Trans
Pennine Trail. It is a 215 mile coast to coast cycling and walking route which
links the west coast seaside resort of Southport in Lancashire to the East coast
seaside resort of Hornsea in Yorkshire. This stretch of the trail is also part
of the National cycle network route number 65.

Selby. Situated in North Yorkshire about 14 miles south of York and this scene is in the town centre looking towards its magnificant Abbey Church.

|
|
The pleasent village of Hemingbrough situated east of Selby on the A63 Hull road and claims to have one of the tallest church spires in Yorkshire.
|
|
|
|
The flat Marshland near Barmby On The Marsh. This scene is looking north west towards Hemingbrough and is part of the Trans Pennine Bridleway.
|
|
|
|
This is the point where the River Derwent meets the Ouse at Barmby and the Tidal Barrage built in the 1970s helps prevent floods.

Howden. Pleasent little historic market town situated in The East Riding Of Yorkshire and this scene is looking towards its Minster Church.
|
|

The River Ouse near Blacktoft and this scene is looking south west across in to Lincolnshire.
|
|
|
|
The Humber Bridge. One of Englands longest span and built in 1981 to link the East Riding with North Lincolnshire.
|

|
Hornsea. This is looking towards the Sea front at the start and finish of The Trans Pennine Trail

Hornsea. This is at the south end of the seafront looking towards the north end and was taken on the third day of my cycle tour during April 2008.
|

Hornsea Mere. One of Yorkshires largest lakes, Popular with bird watchers and a hive of bird activity.
|
|
|
|
Hornsea. This is start of my ride back home, Where you meet the start of the old railway track.
|

|
Hornsea.This site is the old railway station and was a branch line to Kingston Upon Hull before its closed in 1964. It is now a cycle track.

|
|
Beverley. Located about 10 miles north of Hull and is one of Yorkshires most visited tourist towns. Taken on a detour off the Trans Pennine trail.

|
|
|
Beverley. This is looking towards its stunning minster and is one of the main tourist atractons of this beautiful market town
|
|
|
|
Stamford Bridge. Situated about 10 miles north east of York, A route to the East Coast and is part of route 66 of the national cycle network.
|
|
|
|
Stamford Bridge. This scene is looking from the old railway viaduct with grand views of the Yorkshire Wolds. Taken on my way home to Harrogate.

|
|
Leavening. Situated on one of the highest points of the Yorkshire Wolds about 6 miles south of Malton, The new Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route.
