Pictures From My Visits Of The North Derbyshire  Peak District

Welcome to my second feature of pictures related to my visits of the Derbyshire Peak District. These are a better improvement regarding picture quality compared to some of my other ones, which was due to poor visibility and trying to over enhance contrast to improve situations. The pictures in the order of 1 to 20 are from my Autumn 2005 visit and feature the most popular part of the area and easy to get to transport wise. Like the Settle to Carlisle Railway, it has very good rail links and the Southern Trans Pennine Line runs through the very heart of it, taking in the tourist villages of Edale, Castleton, Hope, Bamford and Hathersage.

Edale. Like Malham, in the Yorkshire Dales, it is a busy walking centre and is at the start of The Pennine Way in the North West part of Derbyshire.

Edale. This is The Old Nag's Head Inn, situated in the village centre and is a very busy evening Pub, highly recommended for Bar Meals.

Edale. This is looking North into the Village centre, with views of Edale Moor in the background.

Edale. This is looking North West towards the surounding hillsides around the hamlets of Barber and Upper Booth.

Vale Of Edale. This is looking North across the Vale and was taken on my walk up Hollins Cross, over towards Castleton

Hollins Cross. This is looking West towards the Sumit and was taken on the Footpath walk, over to Castleton.

Hollins Cross. This is looking North, with a top glimpse of Edale Moor in the Background and is a good picnic and meeting place, for walkers.

Castleton. One of the Peaks most visited villages and this scene is at the West end of the village, with it's throughfare of Pubs, Cafes and Shops.

Castleton. This is in the middle of the village, looking North, as the main road zig zags, with a green background view of Hollins Cross.

Castleton. This is looking into the Village Green and was taken on a busy Saturday afternoon during Autumn 2005.

Castleton. This is by the Village Green, facing West, with a shaded fore view of The Youth Hostal, I used for my overnight digs during my cycling days

Peak Cavern. Situated at the Southern end of Castleton and one of Derbyshires fascinating tourist attractions, popular with groups and School partys.

Castleton. One of the Villages most picturesque Ginnels, with its greystone cottages and limestone views of Peak Cavern.

Winnats Pass. Situated on the A625 about a mile, West of Castleton and is The Peaks most scenic roads, with its Limestone scenery.

Castleton. This is looking down Castle Street and was taken on a busy Saturday afternoon, during Autumn 2005.

Bamford. Situated about 2 miles North West of Hathersage and despite the fact it is on a main road, it still retains its natural character.

Bamford. This is looking towards the village green, with its spectacular Autumn colours and is a handy centre for walks around Ladybower Reservoir.

Hathersage. This is looking in the west direction, overlooking this village, with lovely distant moorland views, one of my best Derbyshire pictures.

Hathersage. This is looking from the main road, at the East end of this village towards its lovely Spired Church and Hills beyond.

Hathersage. One of the popular tourist towns of the Peak District. Has connections with Robin Hood and Little John's Grave, located in the Church Yard
