Pictures From My Visits Of The Yorkshire Coast

Welcome to this part of my site featuring pictures of my visits of The Yorkshire Coast. It is the most beautiful coast in Northern England. Starting North From the lovely fishing village of Staithes, it winds its way South along The Cleveland Way, through the picturesque fishing town of Whitby and the nearby fishing village of  Robin Hoods Bay. It then continues through to the popular holiday resorts of Scarborough and Filey. The pictures in the order of 1to 20 are from my visits of Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay during Autumn 2004. The pictures in the order of 21 to 25 are from a visit of Scarborough, taken during the busy holiday season of August 2005. Pictures in the order of 26 to 40 are from a 2006/7 revisit of the Yorkshire Coast and feature pictures of Filey, Bridlington and Sands End near Whitby. The pictures in the order of 38 to 40 are Highlights of The Scarborough Spa Express, A Summer Steam train that runs From York about 3 days a week, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays only with one morning and evening return service, A great day out for all the family.  

The Cleveland Way. This is looking North, as you climb out of Robin Hoods Bay towards Ness Point.

Whitby. This is in Windsor Terrace, looking right towards The Railway Station

Whitby. This is looking towards The Harbour, with a hillside view of The Abbey and was taken from the Railway Station Car Park.

Whitby. This is The River Esk, taken from The Toll Bridge and this view is looking North, towards the Fishing Harbour.

Whitby. This is in Church Street and as you can see it was taken, on a busy Autumn school holiday week, believe it or not during a visit in 2004.

Whitby. This is looking from the 199 Steps, as you walk down from The Abbey, with views towards Church Lane and The North end of the town.

Whitby. This is looking down into Church Lane, from the 199 famous steps, leading down from The Abbey Car Park and was taken on a Autumn visit.

Whitby. This is looking South, across The River Esk, with fine views of The Abbey and was taken on a Autumn visit, during 2004.

Whitby. This is looking towards The Monuments, dedicated to Captain James Cook and William Scoresby, with fine views towards the South of the town.

Scarborough. One of the towns most pictureque streets leading from the town centre. This is looking down Eastborough, enjoying views of the Castle.

Scarborough. Like Torbay in Devon, it is the North's most popular, a seaside resort with something for everyone.

Scarborough. As you can see, this is at one of its busiest seasons and this scene is on the North Bay, looking South towards the Castle.

Scarborough. This is at the Northern end of the bay, looking towards Scalby Ness Rocks and was taken during Summer 2005

Scarborough. This is at the Northern end of the bay, looking towards The Scalby Mills Hotel, a nice eating and drinking place in all seasons.

Filey. Small seaside town, Situated 7 miles south of Scarborough

Filey. Pleasent seaside resort with fine clean sands and marks the end of the Cleveland Way

Filey. This is looking north of the seafront and as you can see, This picture was taken at high tide during summer 2007.

Filey. This is looking north, with fine views of the Filey Brigg Cliffs at high tide.

Sands End. Located 2 miles north of Whitby on The North Yorkshire Coast and as you can see this is at the busy summer holiday season of 2007.

Sands End. This is in East Row, looking into the lovely village green, Where Mikleby Beck meets the sea.

Flamborough Head Cliffs. This scene is located between Thornwick Nab and Breil Nook and was during summer 2007.

Flamborough Head Lighthouse. Situated on The East Yorkshire Coast between Filey and Bridlington and was taken during summer 2007.

Bridlington. This is at the North end of the resort looking torwards Sowerby with distant views of Flamborough Head Cliffs.

Bridlington. Located about 20 miles south of Scarborough, In The East Riding Of Yorkshire. Another nice family seaside resort, With fine clean Sands.

The return of steam on the York to Scarborough Line. This is the 5 PM train getting ready to leave Scarborough Station.

The Scarborough Spa Express. This is the train now leaving on its return journey home. A great memerable family day out for every one.
